Madurai, Aug 17: Janata Party president Dr Subramanian Swamy said today that Congress should have tabled an adjournment motion on Centre's refusal to part with the Chief Vigilance Commissioner's report on alleged irregularities in purchase of arms during Kargil war to the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament instead of a no-trust motion. He told reporters here the Congress move would only help NDA government gain further strength.

Describing the motion as a "bogus one", Swamy said that the Congress only wanted to focus on allegations of corruption charges against Defence Minister George Fernandes for reasons best known to it only, instead of taking up failures of the NDA government.

Warning AIADMK against supporting the government on the no confidence motion, he said "if the AIADMK voted against the motion, then i will support any move to oust Jayalalithaa”, Swamy said that he wanted AIADMK to remain neutral on the issue.
On the DMK deciding to support the government, he said, "I expected the same thing. They cannot do otherwise”.

He welcomed the Bihar government's ban on entry of VHP leaders Pravin Togadia and Giriraj Kishore.
