Jammu, Jan 20: Critising the BJP-led NDA government for pursuing "wrong policies", Congress president Sonia Gandhi today accused Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee of taking 'different stands and different times' on Pakistan. "At one time, Vajpayee was talking about 'aar paar ki ladayi' (fight to the finish) and also said he would not to talk to Pakistan till cross-border terrorism was stopped," Sonia said addressing a well-attended rally at parade ground here.
"But today, the Prime Minister has adopted the line which was propagated by Congress," Sonia said, while expressing hope that talks between India and Pakistan would bring peace to the entire South Asian region.
Sonia said that Congress had always favoured such talks but Vajpayee had taken "different stands at different times".
"We also favour talks with all groups and parties in Jammu and Kashmir," she said.
The Congress chief, who is on a two-day visit to Jammu, said that the "wrong policies" of the government had compounded the problems of people in the country.
"The number of unemployed youth in the country is increasing, prices are rising and the farmers are also in bad shape and this is because of the wrong policies of the Central Government.
"The government is issuing advertisements in the papers claiming that its performance has improved, which is far from the reality," she said adding "they have not brought shine in the lives of the people, but only darkness".
