Tata Power begins construction of merchant power plant
Mumbai, Sept 29: Tata Power Company Ltd (TPCL) has started construction of its merchant power plant under the new `Electricity Act 2003`, at Jojobera in Jharkhand.

"The plant, with an installed capacity of 120 mw, will be fully operational by October 2004 and the power generated will be sold directly to power trading corporation, NDPL and other
consumers," a TPCL release said here today.
The company would lay a 34-km-long dedicated transmission line from Jojobera to Ramachandrapur in Jharkhand, it said.
On completion, the total installed capacity at the plant will increase to 427.5 mw, it said, adding boiler and turbine packages for the project would be supplied by Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. Bureau Report
