Defence civil employees on 48-hour strike from July 23
Nearly 5.5 lakh defence civil employees will go on 48-hour strike from July 23 to protest the Centre`s decision to allow 100 per cent private participation in defence production with 26 per cent Foreign Direct Investment, according to Defence Employees Coordination Committee (DECC), chairman O V Subbaiah.

Subbaiah told newspersons that the government should utilise capacities available in all defence establishments including ordnance factories and also urged the government to stop downsizing and fill up all existing vacancies.
The DECC comprising Indian National Defence Workers Federation (INDFW) affiliated to INTUC and Bharatiya Pariraksha Mazdoor Sangh (BPMS) of BMS have decided to oppose the appointment of Nair committee for re-structuring of thirtynine ordnance factories, he added.
