New Delhi, July 10: Centre has approved Delhi Development Authority's (DDA) proposals on the procedure for making alterations and additions in flats constructed by it. The proposal, which was approved yesterday, permits construction of bathroom in the rear courtyard, covering terrace with lightweight material and interchanging position of kitchen and bathroom subject to structural safety, a DDA release said today.
All such alterations and additions would be allowed only after it is certified by a registered structural engineer or an architect, it said.
Those making changes in development areas of DDA will have to inform the authority itself whereas those in other areas will have to intimate the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
For all additional floor area, a fee of Rs 200 would be charged for processing the plans irrespective of area covered and a charge of Rs 450 per square metre would be levied for additional area to be constructed, the release said.
House owners, who make alterations will have to inform the DDA or MCD of the changes within three years of submission of plans for such alteration or addition failing which the permission would be revoked, it said.
Earlier, in April 2001, DDA had notified 19 items of additions and alterations as permissible. Subsequently four items, viz. fixing doors in courtyard, converting window into almirah, shifting of water tanks and shifting of doors and windows was allowed.
