Washington, Oct 29: US President George W Bush said on Tuesday that the US economy is showing signs of broad and gathering strength. "Our economy is showing signs of broad and gathering strength," Bush said during a White House press conference.
"Retail sales are strong. Business profits are increasing. Stock market has been advancing, housing construction is surging and manufacturing production is rising," Bush stressed. "All of us can be optimistic about the future of the economy, but we cannot be complacent," he said.
Bush said he would also be seeking to make recent tax cuts permanent in order to further boost economic growth. The President spoke shortly after two economic reports showed a rebound in durable goods orders and consumer confidence earlier today. Bureau Report
