With the arrest of four persons including a former French embassy official, Delhi Police on Saturday claimed to have busted here a flourishing racket of sending people abroad on forged documents. The economic offence wing of the Delhi police arrested four persons -- D P Gupta, Kamaljeet, John Gorlier and Neelamgam -- and claimed that they were allegedly duping innocent individuals of their hard earned money.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Dinesh Kumar Bhatt told reporters that Gupta was the kingpin of the racket while Kamaljeet was his conduit who used to entice aspirants from Punjab and other places.
Bhat said they used to charge Rs one lakh to Rs eight lakh from customers for getting visas for Thailand, Canada, Germany and the United States. After receiving part of the settled money, Gupta would contact Gorlier, earlier working with the French embassy, for getting bogus visa stickers which were pasted on the passports.
Gorlier, who revealed that he indulged in these activities for easy money after retirement, used to procure these visas from Neelamgam, whose address was not available. The stickers provided were so cleverly printed or composed that nothing unusual was noticed when subjected to a glow test while processing the document through a special machine.
After being satisfied, the customer would pay Gupta the remaining amount of the agreed money, he said adding the ring leader used to identify himself as a police officer or a doctor though he was only a higher secondary pass.
