New Delhi, June 11: In a bid to ensure conformity with the newly enacted Electricity Bill, power sector watchdog Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) today said it would review a host of orders issued earlier including one on the controversial availability based tariffs. "We are reviewing a whole host of orders issued by us earlier to see whether they are in line with the Electricity Act, 2003", chairman A K Basu said here today at an interactive session organised by CII.
The regulator hinted at modification of the same to bring it in conformity with the law while proposing to complete the exercise by year end.
Basu said the review would basically cover orders relating to ABT, grid code and other power regulations.
CERC had, under the ABT orders issued in 2000, proposed hiking the limit for incentives given to various generators to around 80 per cent of plant load factor leading to protests from state-owned entities like national thermal power corporation which argued that the move would curtail its investment plans.
The chairman also announced that ABT orders would be made applicable to the north eastern region.
Basu said the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) would also come under the purview of CERC as far as any conflict in following orders issued by it was concerned.
The regulator also brought out a discussion paper concerning terms and conditions of tariffs. Bureau Report
