Bahraich, Mar 13: Two children were burnt alive and several houses set afire during a clash between two communities at a village in the nearby Shravasti district last night. Police today said here that large-scale violence took place in the Barga-Bargi village under Mallipur police station when members of one community attacked villagers belonging to a particular community, torching about 30 houses in which two children were burnt alive. The clash took place over the killing of a 'blue-bull' by some people in the village. According to information received here, 12 people were injured and some of them have been admitted to a nearby hospital. Tension prevails in the village and additional police force has been deployed in the area. Senior civil and police officials are camping on the spot.

Police confirmed that the two girl children who were burnt alive were of eight and six years old.

Sources said Shravasti district magistrate Sanjeev Dubey and superintendent of police A K Singh have reached the spot.

Meanwhile, a report from Shravasti said that people have started fleeing the village, apprehending more violence.
