Jabalpur, Oct 27: The BJP today demanded that entire state of Madhya Pradesh be declared drought hit. The state BJP chief and former chief minister Kailash Joshi told newspersons that a resolution to this effect was passed at the two-day state executive meeting and demanded that relief work be launched on war-footing.
He said the government should open alternate works to stop people from leaving their villages in search of jobs.
Drinking water arrangement should be made besides waiving the land revenue and suspend recovery of all loans from farmers, the resolution said.

The party had also appealed to the Centre to pressurise the state government to implement crop insurance scheme.
Joshi said the infrastructural development works should be initiated so that it could generate employment as well as development of the particular area.
On power crisis, the BJP said the state electricity board had to recover Rs 2,300 crore from the government and Rs 742 crore from government undertakings but the burden was being put on small consumers.
It said that the proposed hike in power tariff would make it impossible for the farmers to take electricity legally and appealed people to launch protest against the unjust hike. Bureau Report
