Srinagar, Feb 26: Militants killed a special police officer and a civilian while an ultra belonging to the pro-Pakistan Hizbul Mujahideen was apprehended by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir since last night, an official spokesman said here today. Militants kidnapped Haji Abdul Gani Sofi last night from his home at Panjgam in trial in south Kashmir's Pulwama district and later shot him dead at Chakoora bus stand, the spokesman said. No militant outfit has yet claimed responsibility for the killing of the elderly man.
In Rajouri district of Jammu division, militants killed SPO Mohammad Shabir at his in-laws place at Shahadra Sharief. Police has taken cognizance, the spokesman added.


He said security forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Surankote and Poonch towns in Poonch district.


The recovery included one AK rifle, seven magazines, 1438 rounds, 90 pika rounds, two pistols, four pistol magazines and a wireless set, he added. Bureau Report
