The Government’s case against Chief Excise Commissioner Someshwar Mishra and Flex Industries chief Ashok Chaturvedi took a major knock today with its tacit admission that the wiretap on Mishra’s phone may have been unauthorised. Joint Secretary Kailash Sethi, who authorised the wiretap at the Central Economic Intelligence Bureau (CEIB), has been transferred to the Finance Ministry’s audit wing. The move comes a day after the Ministry asked for the case file to see if the tap had been authorised by the Home Ministry.
