(IMF) will organise a two-day programme to celebrate golden
jubilee of the first ascent of Mt Everest.
The IMF will honour Sir Edmund Hillary and institute 'Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award' in memory of the first man to climb the Mt Everest, an IMF release said here today.
The celebrations will begin on May 20 with a seminar on 'Mt Everest experiences gained and lessons learnt', which will be attended by Indian mountaineers, who had taken part in the Everest expedition, the release said. Sir Edmund will inaugurate an exhibition on May 21. Department of posts has also agreed to release a stamp on May 29, it added.
