He said in the event of non-payment, the bank would take control of their mortgaged property and might sell that.

Venugopalan said the bank has not only prepared the list of defaulters, but has already identified prospective buyers for the property that would be taken control of. "These defaulters owed to the extent of about Rs 300 crore and we expect to realise at least 75 per cent of the total due amount," he said.

The executive director, while refusing to disclose names of such defaulters, said, "Thirteen of them are corporates and the balance are individuals."

He said the letters would be sent to only those defaulters against whom the court proceedings had not yet been started. Bureau Report
