New Delhi, July 31: The issue of CBI allegedly submitting "doctored" tapes to Rae Bareli court in the Babri Masjid demolition case rocked parliament today with an angry
opposition demanding the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani causing pandemonium that forced adjournment of the Lok Sabha for the day.
The opposition plan to corner the government in both the houses on reports of CBI producing tapes in a special court that did not contain the speeches of Advani and other accused on the day of demolition was visible right from the word 'go'.
Soon after the Lok Sabha met for the day, opposition members with congress taking the lead stormed the well of the house shouting slogans against Advani with some of them even demanding his arrest.
With the situation becoming unmanageable, Speaker Manohar Joshi, adjourned the house for fifteen minutes firstand then when the scenes repeated till lunch.
Congress chief whip Priyaranjan Dasmunsi raised the issue and demanded a discussion saying he had given notice of an adjournment motion which was, however, rejected by the Speaker.
He alleged that the tapes had been tampered with to "exonerate" Advani and other accused in the case.
Taking offence to the charge, BJP members were up in arms and surged towards the front benches shouting and gesticulating at the opposition.
