New Delhi, Sept 07: Life Insurance Corporation, which is in the business of insuring death, will now wish its policyholders a longer life through messages on mobile phones. As part of its new it-driven marketing and customer care campaign, LIC will also remind policyholders about premium payment dates and inform them of new schemes through SMS on their mobile phones.

Those who do not have mobile phones should not be depressed, as they can call the company any time on toll-free number '1251' for inquiries about their policies or any other problems, LIC zonal manager (north) M M Mukherjee said here today.
"We have tied up with BSNL and MTNL for a the toll free number. Policyholders can get their queries answered by ringing the number. The facility is available in all regional languages," he said.

Viewing the high incidence of policy lapse due to non-payment of premium after a few years, lic has now introduced the facility of SMS alert.
"Policyholders will also come to know about all the new schemes launched by LIC in future," Mukherjee said. Bureau Report
