Beijing, July 17: China's first group of reconnaissance commanders trained to operate armoured vehicles, unmanned planes, radar and computers have conducted a successful military training in the Taihang mountains in north China, the state media reported today. An officer in charge of the exercise told the state-run Xinhua news agency that the commanders have acquired a variety of modern reconnaissance skills earning more than five diplomas in a variety of specialties.

Trained for the country's armored military units, they are capable of operating newly-developed armored reconnaissance vehicles, said the officer. China set up its first armoured reconnaissance departments at its army academies in 1999, the 'People's Liberation Army Daily', the army's newspaper reported in its Tuesday edition.
