A suspected Palestinian bomb attack rocked downtown Jerusalem on Sunday, wounding about five people, none of them seriously, the Magen David Adom ambulance service said.
Smoke rose over Jaffa Road, the scene of a Palestinian shooting attack that killed two Israeli women on Tuesday and near a pizzeria where a suicide bomber caused 16 deaths in August. "The number of wounded is about five. No one was seriously hurt," said Avi Zohar, director of the ambulance service. Army Radio said its reporter saw a body at the scene and speculated he was a Palestinian suicide bomber.
Witnesses said the explosion occurred near a bus stop in front of stores lining the main shopping street in the centre of Jewish West Jerusalem. The attack coincided with the start of the Israeli work week and came two days after a Palestinian suicide bomber killed himself and wounded 15 people in Tel Aviv.
The Palestinian Authority, in a statement on Saturday, urged militants to stop a wave of attacks on Israelis. Israel called the appeal empty words. Bureau Report
