Chamba, Dec 03: The death toll of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus accident on Chamba-Bharmour road has risen to 34, official sources said here today. Thirty other injured were undergoing treatment in the zonal hospital, Chamba out of which two had been referred to Tanda Medical Hospital at Dharamshala, they said.
The bus, which was carrying 64 passengers, fell into river Ravi near Gehra, 30 km from Chamba, yesterday.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today visited the injured and their family members at the zonal hospital.
While sanctioning a relief of Rs 50,000 each to the next of kin of the deceased, he said a provision of providing Rs one lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased in the accidents would be made in future.
All possible help would be extended to the injured undergoing treatment in the hospital and Rs 5,000 and above would be given to the injured, he told reporters.
The Chief Minister ordered a high level inquiry into the accident to be conducted by the chief general manager of the HRTC and asked him to submit report within 24 hours. Bureau Report
