Bhopal, Nov 11: Levelling fresh corruption charges against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, BJP leader Uma Bharti today alleged that prime government land in Bhopal and elsewhere were sold at throw-away prices with his knowledge. BJP's chief ministerial candidate alleged at a press briefing that 7,688 square metre land belonging to Madhya Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (MPSRTC) in Bhopal and worth about Rs 15 crore, was sold to private developers for Rs two crore.
Similarly, another plot of land of MPSRTC, also in Bhopal, measuring 3.4 acre and valued at Rs 13 crore was sold out for just Rs 40 lakh, she claimed and alleged that the decision to dispose of the plots was taken by state cabinet. Bharti also alleged that power of attorney for a palace at Indore belonging to former 'maharani' of Dhar has been given to a businessman friend of the chief minister "ignoring objections raised by officials".

The property, valued at over Rs 40 crore, could now be used for earning crores of rupees, she claimed.

The BJP leader reiterated her past corruption allegations against Singh but declined to furnish evidence as promised by her earlier, saying "since the Chief Minister claims to be innocent, he should prove it".

She said development was BJP's main poll issue and added that "I am raising corruption issues because these are linked with development. The state is backward due to large-scale corruption in past ten years".

Bharti also declined to apologise to Singh for using "intemperate" language against him and asked whether he would apologise for his "misrule". Bureau Report
