Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 28: Giving a decisive thrust to its 'Remove Antony' campaign, the Karunakaran faction of the deeply divided Congress in Kerala today decided to approach the governor to press for an early session of the house to discuss the 'administrative crisis' in the state. A conclave of 'I' faction leaders and MLAs at Karunakaran's residence here felt that the high command was prolonging a decision on its demand for a leadership change and that the serious troubles plaguing the party and government would not be resolved through minor adjustments like cabinet reshuffle.
Briefing reporters on the deliberations of the meeting, attended among others by 21 Congress MLAs, the faction spokesman P P George said the political developments in the state including the opposition LDF's move for removal of assembly speaker Vakkom Purushothaman would figure in the proposed meeting with the governor.
Though modalities for approaching the governor were yet to be worked out, it would not be delayed for long, he said.
Asked whether the faction was considering the option of aligning with LDF for dislodging the Antony government, George said the faction's assessment was that the situation had not come to that stage.
On government's reluctance to convene the session, he said government should not shy away from its constitutional and moral responsibilities.
