78 admitted of dengue in Solapur, several measures initiated
Solapur, Oct 20: As many as 78 patients have been admitted to various hospitals in the district since past one week for suspected dengue even as the district administration has initiated several steps to contain the spread of the disease.

In all 68 patients have been admitted to the civil hospital here for dengue, according to dean of V M Medical College Dr Sunil Ghate.
While 10 others have been admitted to the Ashwini Hospital here, Dr Umakant Varerkar, a paediatrician in the hospital said.

Blood samples of 64 patients have been sent to Pune for further verification out of which nine have been confirmed for dengue, Ghate added.
Meanwhile, the district administration has initiated various measures like public awareness, cleanliness drive and water purification to check the spread of the disease, official sources said.
