Singapore, Aug 20: Singapore plans to invest one billion dollars in the Indian port and airport projects when the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) comes into effect next year. According to a report by the news channel, the CECA aims to help develop a free trade area, liberalised investment flow and bring many other economic benefits for the two countries.
The third round of CECA talks were concluded on Monday in New Delhi.
A wide range of issues were discussed at the talks, including financial services and free trade agreement in goods, the CECA officials said in a statement. The talks also covered areas of cooperation in telecommunications, air services, tourism, education and biotechnology.
The next round of talks is scheduled to take place in Singapore next month.
India is Singapore's 13th biggest trading partner and bilateral trade amounted to 3.9 billion dollars in 2002. Meanwhile, business lobby group, the Confederation of Indian Industry, said it plans to set up a second India Centre in Singapore. Bureau Report
