Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee returned on Tuesday night after a five-day visit to Japan during which new dimensions and meaningful content were added to the global partnership between the two countries. Vajpayee was received at the airport by home minister L K Advani, external affairs minister Jaswant Singh, finance minister Yashwant Sinha and several other cabinet ministers.
During visits to Osaka and Tokyo, Vajpayee held extensive talks with the Japanese political leadership and business community on furthering cooperation in various fields.
Japan and India have agreed that the comprehensive security dialogue would include a dialogue on counter-terrorism. The Prime Minister said he had conveyed to the Japanese businessmen and industry leaders India's continued commitment to its second-generation reforms and outlined the future economic targets and priorities. He also assured them of the country's determination to address the procedural, administrative and legal obstacles experienced by Japanese investors.
Japan has shown its readiness to cooperate with India in improving the infrastructure and power sectors, the Prime Minister said in a statement in Tokyo at the end of his visit.
