J&K militant groups issuing threats against PM, DPM: Pathak
New Delhi, July 23: Militant groups operating in Jammu and Kashmir, especially the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) have been issuing threats against Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister and other VIPs from time to time, Rajya Sabha was informed today.

Disclosing this, Minister of State for Home Harin Pathak
said in a written reply that security reviews of the existing
arrangements have been undertaken for firming up the security
cover of these VVIPs/VIPs.
In reply to another question, Pathak said that during his visit to United States, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani was assured by President George W Bush that he would take up with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf the need for creating a conducive atmosphere for Prime Minister's peace initiative.
The Chief of Army Staff met the Deputy Prime Minister on May 21, 2003 and had briefed him on the prevailing security situation in the state, he said, adding that as per the inputs provided by the various agencies, there is no "discernible" drop in the "assessed infiltration".
Terrorists: As a result of the coordinated action by the central intelligence agencies and the state police forces, a number of major terrorist and terrorist funding modules have been busted in various parts in the country, he said.
Attack on U.S. information centre in Kolkata, attack on Akshardham Swami Narayan temple (Gujarat), bomb explosion outside Sai temple (Hyderabad), bomb blast in best bus at Ghatkopar in Mumbai and Ansal Plaza shoot out in New Delhi were some of the major terrorist incidents which were busted.
