Ranchi, Apr 09: Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani during his Bharat Uday Yatra reached the Jharkhand capital here today. Saying that tradition of Yatra is very old in India, Advani spoke about how the great saint Shankaracharya traversed the length and breadth of India in the ancient period and successfully completed his mission at the age of 34. Later, saints like Guru Nanak and Kabir in medieval period also travelled a lot and gave their sermon to people, the DPM said. He added that in modern age too Mahatma Gandhi followed this great tradition.
Advani said Gandhiji embarked upon Dandi March from his Sabarmati Ashram in 1922 and broke the Salt Law to wage his non-violent struggle against the then British regime. About his Yatra, Advani said he decided to complete his 33 days Bharat Uday Yatra to traverse 16-17 states to propagate the NDA message among people and the achievements of the NDA government under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
