Chief security officer Lt.Cmdr Raj Kumar of the naval armament depot, facing charge of espionaging for Pakistan's ISI, allegedly committed suicide in the central prison in Visakhapatnam. The 52-year-old official was found dead in the toilet Sunday morning. He allegedly hanged himself to the iron bars with his bedsheet as he left for the toilet, city police commissioner A.K.Khan said. The naval official had been lodged in the cell along with two others -- chief photographer Rajbir Singh and former naval officer from Delhi Balwinder Singh Pawar, a suspected conduit, also in judicial remand since august on the same charges.
''Raj Kumar's body was sent for post-mortem examination after inquest,'' Khan told reporters.

The victim had got frustrated and turned remorseful with his family members getting ostracised and facing financial problems following his arrest in the espionage case which rocked the eastern naval command headquarters here), he added.
Raj Kumar had more problems facing him as the court rejected his bail three times. He had reportedly indicated his frustration in several letters to his family from the prison, the police official added.
