New Delhi, Apr 04: President A P J Abdul Kalam has sent to the law ministry the resignation letter of Justice Shameet Mukherjee, a judge of Delhi High Court, as also the one taking back his resignation. "The judge had sent his resignation letter to the President and subsequently the letter withdrawing his resignation. Both the letters have been sent to the law ministry for its opinion," highly placed sources said.

A law ministry official said it was in the process of firming up its opinion on the resignation letter and the subsequent one withdrawing it.

A final decision on this issue is expected only after law minister Arun Jaitley returns from Indore, where he was attending the BJP national executive meeting, he said.
Justice Mukherjee who had resigned in controversial circumstances, today took back his resignation saying that he wanted to clear his name first from the DDA scam and then would submit his resignation.
He said, "I have written to the president, Chief Justice of India and Chief Justice of Delhi High Court saying I wanted to take back my resignation and clear my name from the allegations levelled against me in relation to DDA scam."
