Emerald idol of Lord Nataraja unearthed in TN
Sivaganga (TN), Dec 01: A rare emerald idol of Lord Nataraja belonging to the ancient Pandya dynasty period was unearthed while digging a pit inside a temple in Tamil Nadu`s Sivaganga district today, officials said.

Described as "a wonderful strike", the idol, weighing 15 kg and measuring 3.5 feet in height, surfaced at Mangalantha Swamy Temple in Uttarankottai, they said. The idol has been handed over to the revenue officials for safe keep in the government museum.
"It is very difficult to estimate the worth of the idol," a museum official said.
