New Delhi, Jan 29: Special Protection Group (SPG) commandos opened fire at a Maruti Esteem which strayed into the Prime Minister`s cavalcade near the Delhi airport before detaining its two occupants after a chase. The white car, bearing a Haryana registration number, came very close to the ambulance at the rear of the Prime Minister`s motorcade, prompting the commandos to open fire.

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was heading for his residence from the Delhi airport after returning from his official visit to Mumbai when the incident took place. ``The incident occurred at 2330 hrs at Rao Tula Ram Marg intersection on the Delhi-Gurgaon highway. The three occupants of the rogue car have been detained and their interrogation is on,`` a senior police official said.

Ashok Kumar, Dharen Singh and one more person were arrested from Gurgaon early this morning and a case of rash and negligent driving and interfering in the working of public servants were registered against them at Delhi Cantt police station here Top police officials of Delhi Police, Intelligence Bureau and the Special Protection Group are holding a meeting in view of this incident.
This is the second breach in the PM`s security in 10 days.
Earlier, a Maruti van had hit the pilot car of the PM`s motorcade and vanished taking advantage of the dense fog. Bureau Report
