Andhra Pradesh: The new tourist destination
Visakhapatnam, Oct 27: Endowed with centuries old history, rich cultural heritage and charming tourist sites, Andhra Pradesh, although belatedly, is aggressively promoting tourism in the state, especially in the east coast- the region around Visakhapatnam.

"We have got tourist sites, which can be compared with the best in the country. We have woken up late, but are determined to promote tourism here," says Sunil Sharma, district collector.
In its efforts, the tourism department has been organising several fairs and festivals on various occasions. For the tourist sites, the region is endowed with places as varied as beaches, pilgrim centres, caves and valleys to Buddhist sites.
"The beaches here are the best in the country. The Ramakrishna beach, dolphin's nose, Rishikonda beaches surf with sea and hill cottages overlooking the grand vista stretches the viewer's imagination," boasts Sai. Bureau Report
