BJP asks militant outfits of Meghalaya to come for talks
Shillong, May 16: The BJP has appealed to various insurgent outfits in Meghalaya to come for talks and said that it does not want to politicise the infiltration issue in the border areas.
The only condition for such talks was that the ultras have to eschew violence, he said here yesterday on the sidelines of a party worker's meet.
Referring to infiltration issue, Satish made it clear that his party did not want to politicise the matter but wished to have a 'national consensus'.
Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani had held two meetings last month with all the chief ministers and the director generals of police of 10-12 states affected by this problem to tackle the issue, he said.
''A 3-D approach - detect foreign nationals staying illegally in India, delete their names from the voters list and deport them back to their country - was taken there besides the issue of border fencing,'' Satish said.
Saying that the Centre was taking whatever steps required to curb this infiltration, the BJP leader said New Delhi was also bearing security-related expenditure of a state.
Satish supported repeal of IMDT act and said there were sufficient laws in the country to deal with the illegal foreign nationals and no new law was required.
