Hubli, July 08: The Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad is conducting a state-wide 'rasta roko' today to protest the Common Entrance Test counselling which is commencing in Bangalore on July 10. ABVP has given a call to boycott the CET counselling in the state following the steep hike in fee structures for medical, dental and engineering courses in the state, parishad state unit president, Dr M Nagaraj told reporters here.

He said the fees for medical, dental and engineering courses per year were Rs 1.90 lakh, Rs 1.10 lakh and Rs 36,000 respectively, "and it is a costly affair for the poor, merited middle class students who will not be able to afford it." "The agitation is against the government's failure to protect such students in the state," he added.
