Scotland's Colin Montgomerie won the Macau Open for his first victory of the year, defeating surprise-package Scott Barr of Australia in a play-off. Barr, who is a teaching professional in Singapore, moved up to 33rd place on the merit list thanks to his runner-up cheque of USD 27,825.
