Srinagar, June 30: Stating that Jammu and Kashmir government would not tolerate human rights violations, agriculture minister Abdul Aziz Zargar has said cordial relations between security forces and the people would help remove the feeling of alienation among the citizens.
"Cordial relations between armed forces and the people
will surely help remove alienation among the people," Zargar
said yesterday addressing a public gathering at Damhal
Hanjipora, a remote area of south Kashmir, after distributing
cash relief under 'Apni Beti Apna Dhan' scheme.
The remarks of the minister came in the wake of allegations by people of D K Marg that security forces had committed excesses in the aftermath of an anti-militancy operation in Ringath-Khull.
Zargar advised security forces to be more people-friendly during anti-militancy operations.
The minister said coalition government would not tolerate human rights violations in the state.
He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir had suffered immensely due to 13 years of violence and needed compassionate treatment to heal their wounds.
"Security forces too have a vital role in wiping out tears from the eyes of traumatized people," Zargar said.
The minister directed the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kulgam, to visit D K Marg and meet the people and security officials to sort out the problem.
Zargar distributed relief among 75 beneficiaries of Noorabad in Anantnag district.
