New Delhi, Sept 03: Still to make up its mind, Congress today said any decision on its joining the Mulayam Singh Yadav led government in UP would be taken only after the trial of strength on September eight. "Let Mulayam Singh Yadav complete the process in UP, then we would discuss the question of participation in the government", Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters when asked if the party would be participating in the SP-led government. Asked about the possibility of Yadav and Congress chief Sonia Ganghi meeting, he said, "It would be too premature to say anything on this matter. Please wait till September eight trial of strength in the state assembly". The 16-member Congress Legislative Party has given a written letter to Governor Vishnu Kant Shastri extending support to SP-led secular government but there were division in the party over joining the Yadav led government.

Several central leaders were also opposed to party joining the Yadav government and had "suggested a wait and watch policy".

The party was watching what decision Yadav takes with regard to reported ASI findings at the disputed site in Ayodhya and dropping up of conspiracy charges by CBI against Deputy Prime Minister and others. Bureau Report
