In a joint operation, Delhi police along with Jammu and Kashmir police busted a major Hawala racket, which was used for funding of militancy movement of outfits like Lashker-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen. Three hard core militants of Hizbul Mujahideen and a Hawala operator were arrested in Delhi and Baramulla (North Kashmir) by police personnel in both the places.
Giving details, police said that the special cell of Delhi police nabbed two Hizbul Mujahideen militants – Rehman Lala and Mohammed Shaban Khan -- in Adarsh Nagar along with 1.8 kg of explosive substances, four live electronic detonators, three cell phones alongwith five sim cards and a cash of Rs 67,000. The duo revealed that they were under instruction from Syed Sallahuddin, chief of Hizbul Mujahideen, to brief the Hizb cadres in Kashmir to disrupt peace and target the rebels of the outfit like Abdul Majid Dar since he was towing the line of peace.
The arrested militants said they were further asked to go to Delhi and set up a base for organising militant activities. They also revealed that they had to disburse Rs 14.89 lakh to various militant outfits in the state.
Police laid a trap and arrested Jamal Nasir along with the money from Jama Masjid area. In a related incident, Jammu and Kashmir police arrested a top Hizbul Mujahideen militant and several others and seized Rs 40 lakh in currency.
