Turkey announced on Wednesday it was reopening its diplomatic missions in the Afghan cities of Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif, which are now controlled by Afghan opposition fighters.
Turkey's decision to reopen its embassy in the capital and the consulate in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif, is an apparent move aimed at easing communication with opposition Afghan groups to form an alternative government and to prepare for a possible deployment of peacekeepers.

A statement from the foreign ministry said "necessary work" was being started to reopen the Turkish diplomatic missions. Anti-Taliban fighters captured Mazar-i-Sharif last week, and Taliban forces fled Kabul toward the south on Tuesday, as opposition fighters entered the city. Bureau Report
