Azamgarh, Jun 02: One person was killed and several were injured in sectarian violence in a town in neighbouring Mau district of Uttar Pradesh today, official sources said. Unconfirmed reports put the number of dead in the clash between Shias and Sunnis in Ghosi town at four.

Several shops were set ablaze and vehicles damaged in the violence, police said adding the situation was tense but under control.

Adequate police had been deployed in the town to maintain law and order.
