Mumbai, July 01: Veteran actor Suresh Oberoi today filed a defamation case against a civil contractor charging him of filing a "false complaint" against Oberoi alleging that
the actor slapped one of his workers.
Metropolitan magistrate B A Shellar today issued notice
to the contractor Sanjay Arora on the case and asked him to
appear on August 12.
Oberoi filed a complaint under Section 500 IPC contending that he had been defamed by the "false complaint" filed by Arora with Juhu police station. He was represented by senior counsel Virendra Parikh.
The actor said Arora had undertaken to do waterproofing job at his residence but left the work unfinished resulting in damage to his furniture as monsoon had already set in.
"Instead of finishing the job, Arora went to police station and filed a false complaint alleging that a worker had been slapped by me," Oberoi said adding that the contractor even made statements in a section of the media defaming him.
The actor said his reputation had been damaged in the society and his image had taken a drubbing with defamatory statements made by Arora. Bureau Report
