Wellington will host India's Davis Cup Asia Oceania Zone I tie against New Zealand in April which is a play-off for the two teams to enter into the World Group qualifying round.
The April 5-7 tie would be played at Wellington's Renouf Tennis Centre on outdoor plexipave hardcourts, a release from the sports management company Raymedia, which looks after India's Davis Cup matches, said.
India came into this final zonal round after blanking Lebanon 5-0 in Beirut last week. New Zealand defeated Indonesia 3-2 at home.
India are likely to retain the same playing side, comprising Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi and Harsh Mankad, which beat Lebanon with Paes and Mankad playing the singles and Bhupathi featuring in the doubles with Paes.
India have reached the World Group 11 times since the inception of the current system in 1981, but not since 1998.
In the last two years, India fought their way to the World Group qualifying round but were denied entry in to the elite 16 by Sweden and the USA respectively. Bureau Report
