Hong Kong, Nov 06: There`s more than cyber-sex on offer in Hong Kong`s internet cafes. Prostitutes are working out of the cafes and offering the real thing. In the latest round-up, 14 women and five men were arrested for vice activities in three different internet cafes in Hong Kong`s Kowloon district, police said today. Officers discovered the internet cafes were being used as a front for brothels and arrested the suspects Tuesday evening for managing a vice establishment and displaying indecent material. Fifty seven computers and a quantity of computer hardware believed to be showing hardcore pornography was seized in the raid, a police spokesman said. The proliferation of vice activities in internet cafes appears to be a move by Hong Kong`s sex workers to dodge frequent police raids on massage parlour and karaoke bars in the territory.

A recent survey by a welfare group found many of the 290 internet cafes in Hong Kong were being used to entice teenage girls into prostitution.

Last November, in the first raid of its kind, police arrested nine women hostesses offering sex services in private rooms of an internet cafe in Hong Kong`s Wanchai district.
