Jaipur, Aug 11: The BJP`s mainstay in the forthcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje, ended her 105-day campaign in the state on Sunday. She covered 192 constituencies and conducted over 800 meetings.
Through the Parivartan Rally which came to a close on Sunday, Raje managed to meet workers in almost all the constituencies and brief them about burning state and local issues.
``We highlighted the non-fulfilment of promises made by the state government. Like eight hours of electricity supply was promised to farmers, but they are getting only two hours supply,`` Raje said.
Referring to ``financial mismanagement``, Raje said fiscal deficit in the state had gone up to 7.5 per cent from 3.8 per cent.
``Fresh loans of 30,000 crore have been taken by the Gehlot government and the total loan burden on the state stands at 52,564 crore. Interest burden has also increased to 44.56 per cent,`` Raje said.
The BJP also raised the issue of unemployment in the state in the run-up to the elections. Raje said no new employment was generated in the state because the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) went down by an alarming 7.2 per cent.
``On the whole, drought was faced by the state for four consecutive years. Government was not prepared with insurance cover for farmers even as crops, worth Rs 25,000 crore, were destroyed. If state had insurance cover, they would only have to pay 245 crore,`` Raje said. The BJP said not a single industry had been registered in the state.
On the contrary, said a party leader, two power projects— Dholpur and Chittor— had been stopped mid-way.
