Chennai, Nov 20: Former Union Minister and Congress Janayaga Peravai leader P Chidambaram today demanded resignation of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, owning moral responsibility for the "Supreme Court's indiction" of legal system in the state. He told a press conference that the apex court, which ordered the transfer of wealth cases against Jayalalithaa to Karnataka, in its verdict had indicted not only the legal system but also the police in Tamil Nadu.

It came down heavily on the public prosecutor, who dealt the case in Chennai courts and was appointed by the present AIADMK government, he said.

He said the apex court's order clearly proved that Jayalalithaa attempted to 'bend the judiciary' to suit her needs.

Jayalalithaa should own moral responsibility for the 'poor state of affairs' and should quit, he said.
He said that the Madras High Court should consider action against the judge, who was dealing the case in the state.

Ruling out the scope for a third front for the coming Lok Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu, he said only two fronts would emerge - one led by Congress and another by BJP- for the polls. However, this tie-ups would end with the Lok Sabha polls and parties should gear for forming a front deviod of the DMK and AIADMK for the 2006 assembly polls in the state.

His party would work towards that, Chidambaram said adding that for him, Lok Sabha polls was not important. He would concentrate more in state politics hereafter.
