Pune, July 14: Asking the Kanchi Shankaracharya to keep away from Ayodhya "politics", former Union minister and Lok Janshakti Party president Ramvilas Paswan has said "by indulging in such disputes, he is only lowering his image".
"A person of such a standing should keep himself away from such politics as the organisations like RSS and VHP have their own axe to grind," Paswan told reporters here last night.
Stressing the need for an alternative front which can counter "communal" party like BJP, Paswan said Congress should take initiative for this. On the possible impact of Ayodhya issue, Paswan said, "It will have no effect as people are very wise."
Paswan said his party would launch a movement in Maharashtra from August 9 to press their various demands. His party would also protest in Parliament the growing atrocities against Dalits in the country, he said. Bureau Report
