NY, May 04: Veteran artists Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, Guy Clark and Joe Ely are scheduling a handful of fall shows together. Confirmed so far is an Oct. 22 show at New York's Beacon Theater and a performance the next night at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, Pa., near Philadelphia. A few more dates are expected, but not a full-scale tour.
"They do them every now and then," Lovett's manager, Vector Management president Ken Levitan, told Billboard.com. "They're songwriter shows, they sit and pass around the guitar." The quartet will also appear together June 15 in Jacksonville, Ore., on a bill that also includes singer/songwriter Jackie Greene.
All four artists have road plans leading up to the collaborative dates. Ely kicks off a slate of dates with the Flatlanders Tuesday in Kansas City, Mo. Hiatt plays Charlotte, N.C. Thursday. Clark's schedule begins May 13 in Lubbock, Texas, while Lovett will get his summer tour underway June 17 with a performance at the Telluride (Colo.) Bluegrass Festival, which Hiatt will also play.
