New Delhi, July 25: A four-member NDA MPs' team, which recently visited West Bengal to probe Trinamool Congress allegations about ruling Left Front's terror against political opponents, today said it had found that democracy was being "systematically demolished" in the state. "If such a rein of terror goes unchecked, it will turn the next general elections into a drama," BJP MP Kirit Somaiya, who led the fact-finding team, told reporters after submitting their report to Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani here. They were accompanied by NDA convenor George Fernandes.

On the team's suggestion that Centre should intervene and protect the political opponents of the left front, Somaiya said Advani and Fernandes had suggested that the team raise the matter before the Election Commission. He said the NDA coordination committee would discuss the report at its very next meeting.

"We will submit this report to the Chief Election Commissioner and ask him to take active initiative as it did in case of Madhya Pradesh where it had sent its observers during the assembly elections," Somaiya said adding the CEC should get a report from the State Election Commission on the findings of the NDA team.
