Islamabad, Feb 06: Ruling out roll back of its nuclear and missile programmes due to the ongoing controversy over proliferation of nuclear technology by its top nuclear scientists, President Pervez Musharraf said Pakistan has developed 2000 km long range missile Shaheen-11 which would be test-fired within a month.
In an apparent attempt to demonstrate that its nuclear and missile programme was very much intact, Musharrraf told a meeting of editors and columnists that the country's long range missile Shaeen-11 would be test-fired within a month to consolidate country's missile programme.
"The missile is ready for tests", he said while refuting allegations that Pakistan's nuclear and missile programme was in jeopardy as result of disclosures of proliferation of nuclear technology by its scientists.
Pakistan has so far test fired short and medium range missiles Shaheen-1 (700 kms), Hatf-1, Ghaznavi-600 km Hatf-3, a short range missile which could carry nuclear or conventional war head upto around 290 km.
Pakistan also claims to have long range missiles, Shaheen-II with, Ghauri-1 (1500 km) and Ghauri-II (2300 km). The long range missiles have not been demonstratively tested so far. Pakistan tested its missiles last in October, 2003 by firing Htaf and Ghaznavi missiles. Bureau Report
