Guwahati, May 13: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today urged the Centre to bear the costs incurred in deployment of armed forces in the state. Giving the views of the state government on Sarkaria Commission's recommendations in the ninth meeting of the standing committee of the inter-state council in new Delhi, Gogoi said the costs of raising central armed police battalions as well as the recurring expenses should also be borne by the Centre. According to an official release here, discussion was also held in the meeting on administrative relations between the Centre and the state particularly on the recommendations of the commission regarding powers to be given to the state under articles 256 and 257 of the constitution and application of sanction under article 365. However, no final decision was arrived at in today's meeting which was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and the matter will be discussed in the next meeting of the council to which the union law minister would be invited.
