Mumbai, Nov 08: Software major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) yesterday said the outsourcing order worth beyond 50 million dollar from the investment banker Lehman Brothers was an 'exciting opportunity' for the company.
The TCS spokesperson told reporters that the IT order bagged by the TCS was separate from those of orders won by Wipro and Infosys from the same firm. We are excited because this as it is a very prestigious order from an international firm, he said.
While, the total project size of Lehman Brothers is estimated to be around US dollar 500 million, the three Indian firms--TCS, Wipro and Infosys-- are likely to get business worth over 40 per cent of the total project cost. Lehman would outsource IT infrastructure and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) from Wipro, TCS and Infosys would be working as vendors for various software requirements as a part of its global outsourcing strategy. The deal is considered to be the first of its kind by the Lehman Brothers, replacing its demand requirement from a non-GE and non-Citigroup companies outside USA.
